Hi!

About

My name is MacKenzie Cartmill, founder of MacKenzie Home Company. I am an interior designer and real estate agent located in San Diego, CA.

I always dreamed of starting my own business within a creative and hands-on industry. I earned my
degree in business management with specialization in entrepreneurship from San Diego State University (go Aztects!) and after a few years in sales, received an opportunity to work alongside a highly-experienced designer, architects, general contractors and tradespeople - from cabinet makers to electricians, plumbers and others, seeing everything from 'before' stages, to design, demo, and implementation, and all the way through construction to the exciting 'after' stages - complete with decor and styling.

After some time in interior design, I became a licensed California real estate agent (DRE #02156153) and am now brokered by Big Block Realty.

I love all things home, and what truly excites me is the psychology behind space planning and how design can streamline daily life while simultaneously creating spaces that are original and reflective of each client’s story.

Thanks for stopping by - I look forward to working with you!

Mission:

Enable forever homes, creating functional, beautiful, original spaces for time-stressed, busy people.

Vision:

A world where those buying or renovating a home can benefit from one-stop shop service –

from home staging and sale to home purchase, interior design, renovation, and décor.

Values:

Approachability

Real estate is expensive and interior design and renovation can be intimidating. It might even seem
unaffordable at the outset. But I’m big on approachability.

I want people to feel safe reaching out,
finding answers, hearing ideas, and benefitting from professional help and support – however much of it is needed – throughout the journey.

Every family is different. And the spaces within a home need to be tailored to those who live there,
from the foods they eat to the hobbies they have and the lifestyles they lead.

I believe in smart, functional solutions, because when every item has a designated place, it can represent the difference between a calm, stress-free environment that works for you (and stays clean) versus one that works against you and creates chaos.

From the way spaces are designed to the furnishings that are selected – all of it matters, and what works for one family won’t always work for another.

Functionality
Simplicity

It shouldn’t be hard or stressful to buy or sell a property, and staging a current property for sale can be fun. But when you’re stressed for time and busy with work and other life activities, it can be the straw that breaks your back. It doesn’t have to be that way. I believe in making the process as simple and pain-free as possible.

People have stories that go back generations, and homes should reflect that character. Often,
families have been gifted items that have real meaning, or furnishings that don't fit a specific style.

But prioritizing originality means that unique pieces can be kept and incorporated into the overall design of a home, creating spaces that are original and authentic.
